Position Details

Marine pilots are employed by Flinders Ports to help Captains safely navigate their vessels to the berth once they enter the port's waters.

This role is a crucial role for Flinders Ports because a marine pilot's skill and knowledge ensure that ships arriving in port do not run aground, collide with other vessels or run into infrastructure, such as navigation buoys.

All marine pilots are required to hold a Master Class 1 Certificate of Competency.
